Hi San Jose Community!
My name is Ivy Flores (AKA La Bombón ASSesina), and for the past several years I’ve had the absolute joy of producing and hosting “It’s a Drag Christmas’ @ Christmas in the Park – our city’s beloved free holiday drag spectacular that turns the downtown park into a winter wonderland of glitter, high kicks, and pure queer holiday magic.
Every December, hundreds of families, LGBTQ+ folks, allies, and visitors of all ages bundle up, grab hot cocoa, and gather under the lights to watch local artists, kings, queens lip-sync classics, and spread ridiculous amounts of cheer.
This event has always been 100% free to the public because no one should have to pay to feel joy and belonging during the holidays.
But this year, life threw some serious curveballs. Between rising venue costs, unexpected personal & financial hardships, and sponsorships falling through, I’m facing the very real possibility that I’ll have to cancel the show for the first time ever. And the thought of that breaks my heart.
I’m not ready to let this tradition die!!
That’s why I’m turning to our incredible community – the same community that shows up every year to support, celebrate and just exist – to help make the magic happen one more time.
Every dollar goes directly to:
• Stage rental ($150 per slot)
• Performer travel and stipends (these artists give so much and deserve to be paid)
The goal this year is to make 2 shows happen:
12/26/2025 8PM - $150 stage cost & 5 Performers -$50 each
12/30/2025 8PM - $150 stage cost & 5
Performers -$50 each
$800 for both shows or $400 for the one show! Truthfully, as long as we are able to show up at least once that is sufficient! ❤️ The intention is to showcase more local talent and give people a chance participate!
Whether you can give $1 or $10, know that you’re not just donating to a drag show – you’re making sure a lonely kid sees someone fabulous who looks like them, you’re giving chosen family a place to celebrate, and you’re keeping a bright spot of love and laughter shining in our city when the world feels a little too dark.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your support and I hope to see you at Christmas in the Park!
Happy Holidays,
BOMBON ASSESINA
