Hello, I am making this fundraiser on behalf of Johanna, who I met at the detention center where her husband has been unjustly held since April. Since then, we have been in touch and she has shared with me the incredibly difficult circumstances she and her children are facing.

Johanna is the mother of two young boys with a third child due in August. She is in the third trimester of a high-risk pregnancy and facing this incredibly difficult time without family or any support network in the US. Since her husband has been unjustly detained, Johanna has taken on the full responsibility for caring for her children and supporting her family financially, but she cannot work anymore due to the physical demands of her complicated pregnancy. She has no income at this time.

***Update as of August 28: This is a critical moment. Earlier this week Johanna and her children were in a minor car accident, they were unhurt but she is shaken. Johanna is scheduled for a C-section on September third, just six days away, and she could go into labor at any moment. Meanwhile, she owes three months of back-due rent. Thanks to initial donations, one month has been covered, but she and her children will be evicted if she cannot pay for the other two months (5,000$) by September 5th, only two days after she is scheduled to give birth.

We are urgently asking for donations to help cover:
- 5,000 back-due rent to prevent Johanna and her children's impending eviction by Sept 5th
- Funds to pay the mechanic post car accident
- Essentials: food, clothing, birthing supplies and car insurance

The stress and grief Johanna is experiencing now is crushing, and coming to a head this week. She should not have to navigate this crisis alone. Community must come together to keep her family housed and ease the burden during her pre and post-natal period. Thank you.

From Johanna: Good evening, I am a mother of two young children, one 7 years old and the other 6. I am pregnant and due in August. My husband was detained by immigration three months ago, and I have been struggling. I pay $2,500 for rent, water, electricity, gas, car insurance, food, and toiletries. I need birthing supplies, clothes, and shoes for my children and myself. I have expenses for a lawyer handling my husband's case. I appreciate your cooperation and help. I am a mother and I am alone in this country with my children. I have no family here. My parents passed away. And I can't work because of my pregnancy. I have a high-risk pregnancy and I don't want to be evicted from the apartment where I live or go out on the street with my children. Please help me. May God bless all the people who are helping me in any way they can. May God multiply your resources.

** I’ve adjusted the fundraising goal to reflect the urgent need of raising $5,000 by September 5th, on top of the ~$2,800 already contributed and after accounting for GoFundMe’s fees. That said, Johanna’s needs extend beyond this immediate target, and additional support would make a real difference.
