Aloha, my name is Lorrissa Kekahuna. I was raised on the windward side of Oʻahu. Hawaiʻi has been my home my entire life. Like so many local families, my ʻohana and I have been priced out of paradise. We are being forced to leave the only home we’ve ever known, and we are letting go of nearly everything we own—except our furry family members.

Our greatest concern is our beloved Honey Boy, a 300-lb Juliana pig who has been part of our family since he was just a 6-week-old piglet. He is neutered, microchipped, and deeply loved by every member of our family. Honey Boy is not a pet—he is our baby. He gets tucked in every night, bathed weekly, and is so gentle and sensitive that he’s scared of his own shadow. He has known only love, safety, and family his entire life.

Unfortunately, bringing Honey Boy with us is far beyond our financial ability. The cost to transport him safely is overwhelming:

Pacific Air Cargo to fly him to Los Angeles (including building a custom crate): approximately $2,000

VIA PET LLC to transport him from Los Angeles to Pierson, Florida: $5,750

The total cost is about $8,000.

We are selling everything we can to try to make this happen, but we are running out of time. Our greatest fear is that if we are forced to leave Honey Boy behind, he will not be safe—our hearts break at the thought that he could be harmed or even eaten (Kalua Pig, we have had offers, so we know)

Honey Boy is our family. He has been raised with kindness and love, and he deserves to continue his life with the people who adore him. We are humbly asking, from the bottom of our hearts, for any help—no matter how small—to bring Honey Boy home with us.
