On September 8, 2025, my uncle Hector Cariño went to his immigration court interview and was taken into custody to Fresno by Immigration Enforcement, otherwise known as ICE. Not only is he the sole provider to his young wife and son, but he was doing everything “the right way” to get his legal status to live in the United States.
It has now been three months since he has been home with his family. Three months in a jail uniform. Three months bunking with strangers. Three months of missed memories and long painful drives to and from the facility hours away.
Every day is a painful reminder that our time together is not promised.
With your help, we can help his wife pay rent and living expenses, as well as child care. Hector’s hearing is coming soon and we hope that he gets bail options so he can continue working on his case while being home, with the other “option” being self-deportation.
Please help our family stay together by sharing his story or donating. Every small step helps towards something bigger.
