Keep FAIRWIND Floating

FAIRWIND is a 40’ wooden Mariner ketch that, along with her skipper, Tim Bercovitz, has introduced sailing to hundreds of military veterans, active-duty military, first responders, the visually impaired, and many other groups, along with their families. Skipper Tim also welcomes aboard anyone who just wants to experience the beauty and peacefulness of sailing. And there is no charge for this. Ever. FAIRWIND currently needs extensive work to her hull so she can continue to provide this unique experience to anyone that will benefit from it. Programs sponsored by FAIRWIND’s Skipper Tim are “Sailing Vets Helping Veterans, Current Military, and First Responders Cope with Traumatic Stress”, in partnership with Patriot Outreach.

FAIRWIND and Skipper Tim have been icons of the American Legion Newport Harbor Post 291 and the American Legion Yacht Club for decades. They have been together for over 50 years! Skipper will be turning 90 this December and shows no signs of stopping.
