As the Executive Director of New Beginnings Youth & Family Services, Dr. Stafford created a safe and nurturing space for children from pre kindergarten to 6th grade, providing them with educational support, life-enriching experiences, and a hopeful path forward. Her motto, “You can be what you see,” lives on in every child whose life she touched.

Through the years, Dr. Stafford and her dedicated staff served hundreds of children and families from communities challenged by economic hardship, high crime, and limited resources. Her vision was simple yet profound: create a space where children could feel safe, valued, and inspired to pursue their dreams. Through grant-writing, program development, and her boundless compassion, she built a foundation for generations of learners to come.

Now renamed Dr. Theresa Stafford’s New Beginnings Learning Academy in her honor, the program continues to provide a haven of opportunity for youth in under-resourced communities. Our summer and afterschool programs offer academic support, meals, field trips, and cultural enrichment—all essential in shaping well-rounded, empowered young adults.
