Meet Bill and his best friend, Charlie. They have been inseparable since Charlie was a puppy. Charlie is a 7 year old Australian Shepherd. If you knew Bill, you knew Charlie.

Bill has developed Alzheimer's, and as he has slowly progressed into the darkness of the disease, Charlie has been his light. Bill has forgotten many memories, but he will never forget Charlie.

This fundraiser is to help both of them.

Charlie has been diagnosed with cancer, and he needs 18 radiation treatments. The cost of the treatment is beyond my means, and I am asking, I am praying, you will find it in your heart to help Charlie. If we lose Charlie, we will lose Bill.

I know this is a big ask, but I need to try, because Charlie is more than a dog - he is Bill's link to reality. When they are together, Charlie never leaves Bill's side. It brings tears to my eyes to see the bond between them. I believe anyone who has had a loved one with Alzheimer's, or who knows someone afflicted with the disease, understands why I am trying to help him.

I am a family member who has been Bill's caretaker. I am not doing this for myself. If we do not raise the money we need, I will donate what we have to Alzheimer's research and an animal rescue association.
