On Friday 18th July 2025 a man suffered a cardiac arrest on North Church Street in Bakewell. Local people used CPR and a nearby defibrillator to resuscitate him and kept his treatment going until paramedics arrived.
Over the last few years funding has been raised locally to install four of these defibrillators across Bakewell. These units need ongoing maintenance including replacement of chest pads every three years and the shock batteries every five years. These parts need replacing more frequently if the units are used. It costs around £350 a year to keep the four units running and supply them with new pads and batteries as required.
We are seeking to raise £1,750 to create a fund to ensure the defibrillators can be kept operational for at least five years so that they are available the next time someone needs one.
Please donate whatever you can - we really want to ensure we can help anyone else who may need the equipment in future.
Thank you
Richard
