Alright. So to make a sob story short,

Unfortunately, the circumstances in which our profession has put us in have put a coworker of mine in such a terrible situation to the point where he is almost homeless and starving. The federal shutdown has lasted 34 days; we are federally funded. The votes keep failing. We were deemed essential and cannot leave work to make funds elsewhere.

Without forcing him to quit, I am wanting to start a fundraiser for my friend in need, whom I hold very close.

I’m not asking for much, and there is no goal in mind.

Our resources have been expended, and we have done everything we can.

I reach out to this community as a last-ditch effort and because it’s the only one I’ve known and grown close to.

Every penny helps. I would not reach out if I didn’t think it was dire. I understand it is not your duty whatsoever, and this may rub a lot of people the wrong way, but it is worth the shot if it can raise somebody else up.
