Hi everyone,

I'm Keela a TY student at Sion Hill College.

In March I will be travelling as a volunteer to South Africa to take part in the Mellon Educate’s mission to help improve education in under-resourced communities. I will be involved in lots of hands-on activities, including the construction and renovation of schools, supporting early literacy through one-on-one tutoring, assisting with the school feeding programme and engaging directly with local students and teachers.

The Mellon Educate project is is an Irish-based African development charity founded by Niall Mellon in 2002. They have had sixteen hugely successful years of building houses and have recently transitioned to building schools in some of South Africa's poorest townships.
