Raising funds for Oromo Artist Keekiyaa Badhaadhaa
Oromo music is a part of our culture that is embedded in the fabric of our everyday life. Forms of Oromo music like geeraarsa and waraqsaa, especially in times of difficulty, give us the strength and the morale to get up and continue to fight. After the loss of Hacaaluu Hundessaa, we know how dangerous it can be for our artists to be bold in their expressions and live peacefully in Ethiopia. Keekiyyaa Badhaadhaa’s song “Barraaq” is not an exception to that truth. Many are saying this song is truly the anthem of this round of Oromo Protests. We must be mindful that these are troubling times back home and that the Oromo truth is criminal in Ethiopia. Every individual willing to tell that truth becomes extremely vulnerable and is taking a risk that can endanger them. Keekiyyaa knew and accepted that risk. He said that he made this song for his people and his people are all that he has at the end of the day. His fearlessness even after everything that has transpired is so admirable. He put his life on the line to call out to his people and he did it so gracefully
Let us step up to the plate and protect ours before we have anything to regret. We have lost enough; we cannot afford to lose one more. Every dollar counts. Let’s support our beloved artist! All funds will go to supporting Keekiyyaa.
I am Gurmesa Shakme from Atlanta, Georgia. I am a member of the Oromo youth Association of Atlanta, Georgia, and a long time fan of Keekiyyaa. I am working with Vison Studio Entertainment who directed and recorded Keekiyyaa's hit song "Barraaq". They will be facilitating the transfer of the funds collected to Keekiyyaa who is currently in Ethiopia. The funds will be spent by Keekiyyaa to help cover the costs of video production.

Tibba kana immoo Artist Keekiyyaa Badhaadhaa haalli biyyattiin keessa jirtuu fi dhiibbaa karaa hundaan artii Oromoo irratti godhamaa jiru cimaa akka ta’uu osoo beekuu hojii bonsaa hojjatee ummata Oromoof dhiyeessee jira.
Sirba mata dureen isaa “Barraaq” jedhu dalagee jira. Oromoo artiistoota akka kanaa bira dhaabbachuu fi jajjabbeesuu qaba. Bara garaaf bulaan baay’ate kana keessa namoota akka Keekkiyyaa kutannaadhaan sabaaf dhaabbatan bira dhaabbannee gargaaruun dirqama hunda keenyaati. Keekkiyyaa hojii aartii cimaa kana sabaaf gumaache bira dhaabbannee diinaa irraa haa ittisnuu!!
