Keegan’s Krew Class of 2024 Legacy of Kindness

Donation protected
Hello, it’s me again, Keegan’s Mom.

April 6th, 2024, marks 7 years since my son took his own life due to bullying. The last 7 years have been a completely surreal whirlwind. Keegan was only 11 years old when he died, so he would be a graduate of the Class of 2024 had he stayed.

Over the years, we established a nonprofit in his honor, spoke at local schools, held contests inspiring youth to stand up, speak out, and be kind. We’ve done pop up events teaching kids coping skills and making stress relieving fidget toys. We traveled the country on a Kindness Krewsade, doing random acts of kindness.

The last few years, I’ve been working multiple jobs, and haven’t had time to dedicate to the nonprofit, but at the same time, I’ve been employed at some of the best nonprofits I can think of in the area, the Children’s Home, Boys & Girls Club, and Crittenton Crisis Nursery, where I have had the privilege of working with some of the most delicate members of my community, building relationships, showing kindness, and hoping they will take that with them on their journey.

I’m at a very transitional stage in life, as I am finally preparing to sell the only home Keegan ever knew, but also the one where he ended his life. It used to be full of people and laughter, as we had many roommates over the years, and later they were all replaced by family. Now it’s just me, and years of painful memories and regrets. It’s so sad here, that I sit in my car for awhile when I get home, dreading walking into the abyss. And as much as I know that I need to take this step for my personal growth and healing, it’s heartbreaking to think of leaving Keegan’s home and go to a place without his memories to keep me company.

I know I’m sharing way too much information, but I say all that to say I have a contest going for Keegan’s Krew, where we will be awarding $1000 to a graduating senior of the Class of 2024. They simply need to be nominated by a member of the community for leaving a legacy of kindness in the community somehow. I haven’t done any fundraising for awhile and am prepared to personally pay the $1000, but with the goal of buying a new home, it would be wonderful to be able to use that toward a down payment. I hate asking for donations, and will likely dissolve the nonprofit because of that but I would be honored if you’d consider donating one more time. The money raised will go to the contest money first, tshirts made with the image above for the contest, and finally repairs needed to Nanu, the bus we used on our Kindness Krewsade.

As always, thank you for letting me pour my heart out to you, and supporting our mission to end bullying before any other lives are lost ❤️
