Support for my Dad's Funeral & Medical Expenses

Hi everyone. As most of you know, my name is Byron Roman and I am an artist living in San Francisco.

My dad has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 liver, esophagus, and lung cancer. There is absolutely no way that one can prepare themselves for something like this. It’s heavy. My family is devastated, but we are staying strong and positive because that is what my dad needs right now. Strength and prayer.

He is 62 years old and lives in Midland, Texas. He is underinsured, and medical expenses have already become quite substantial, as you can imagine.

He was diagnosed right after Thanksgiving. What we thought was a work injury resulted in several tests that led to his diagnosis. On December 1st, he was rushed to the ER because he had become super anemic due to being unable to eat and losing his strength. He went in for a blood transfusion which was helpful, but his blood work/levels are still fluctuating. He spent a day in the ICU but is now in a regular room at Midland Memorial Hospital. His doctors are doing everything they can to stabilize him. He has now received two blood transfusions.

The goal is to get him to a solid strength, stable enough so that he can return to his oncologist and begin the chemotherapy treatment plan that is being recommended for his condition.

There are better days and not so good days. On better days, I can hear in his voice that he is stronger and finding the energy to make me laugh. He has such a beautiful sense of humor, hearing him laugh really warms my heart.

I write to all of you on behalf of my family, asking for assistance to help my dad fight cancer. It’s certainly going to be a long journey. This is what life is about, fighting and pushing through. My dad is going to get through this! Every donation helps and I truly appreciate it and you. <3
