I'm Kayden Alleno; I am 10 years old and have been diagnosed with "Spinal cord injury T-12 complete" due to a car accident involving someone under the influence. I've been in my wheelchair for 6 years. This does not stop me from living life to the fullest. I am quick on my wheels and love participating in races. I live with my grandmother, who takes sole care of me. Since I do not qualify for a handicap bus due to going to an out of zone school, she takes me to and from school every day, in addition to multiple doctor's appointments. When we want to get into the car, my grandmother has to help me get in, take the wheels off my chair, and lift my 48-pound wheelchair into the trunk of our 2008 Kia Optima. As I continue to grow, this process has become more and more difficult for my grandmother and me. Your gift will give us the chance to travel without these added inconveniences. You are giving me autonomy as I long to have more control over things in life that most people take for granted, like mobility.
