Let’s all pitch in to help with JT and Ashley’s adoption fees!

I first met Ashley when I was living in Uganda, missing home, and going through a pretty dark time.  Her empathetic and compassionate soul was a pure ray of sunshine to me.  She fought on behalf of children who were HIV positive, and is still one of the strongest advocates for those with HIV and AIDS that I personally know.  It was not uncommon to find her using her own money to send kids to school, paying people’s medical bills, and reuniting children with their biological families. She took in my first baby for five weeks without a second thought when we had to go back home to America.  Being away from my son was difficult, but I never worried about him for a moment because I knew he was with her.

She was not rich and did not give out of her excess, but rather, she lived simply so that others around her might simply live. I watched as she would frequently delay her own needs and desires,  at times going without electricity and running water, because she had already given everything she had to someone else.   She didn’t promote herself publicly or turn her efforts towards large fundraising campaigns.  She was just one woman, living day to day in community with those around her and loving them as she did herself.

Then she went off and married an amazing man.  Together they have three beautiful girls, and still continue to selflessly serve others on a daily basis.

To know JT and Ashley is to love them, and they have given so much to so many.   They would never think to start a fundraising campaign for themselves- and this is precisely why I’m taking it over.  As many of us know, adoption can be expensive, and legal fees/ travel / immigration costs add up quickly.  As JT and Ashley continue to finalize their adoptions and process paperwork, I decided it was time for all of us to give back to them.

As I am currently in school studying more and more about psychology, neurobiology, and attachment...I truly believe there is nothing more important than secure connections and being a part of a family. Not all of us are in the position in life to take kids who need a stable family into our own home, but we can help others who have.

Please think about donating to support this beautiful family- any amount helps!
