Aloha, my name is Grace Young. I was born and raised in Wainiha on the North Shore of Kauaʻi and now live in Wailua Homestead with my family — myself, my two daughters, their father, and two grandmothers, six people on one property.

Hurricane Lowell struck Kauaʻi on Monday September 8, 2026 and devastated our island. We lost power for 4 days and are now facing the costs of recovery.

Funds will go toward:

• Propane and generator costs during the outage

• Fence repair estimated at $2,000

• Shed repair

We are grateful our family is safe. Once our basic needs are covered, any additional funds will go directly back to our community. We have already delivered 400+ lbs of ice to Kekaha, partnered with Kauaʻi Bites to feed first responders and essential workers, distributed 2 pallets of ice with Mālama Kauaʻi, and will be volunteering with the food bank in Anahola on September 15.

This hurricane has been devastating but the aloha we have seen reminds us why Kauaʻi is so special. We will rebuild.
