Hi my names Emma and I want to share Katie’s story with you.
As a Family, they have been through a lot in the past 10 years. This breaks my heart to say that my greatest friend, a beloved Wife to Marc, and mother to her two beautiful children aged 18 and 11, Katie was informed just 2 weeks ago that she will no longer receive treatment for her rare cancer. This news has been devastating for her and her whole family. We are now asking for your help to make lasting memories with her while she is still with us. Katies journey has been a difficult one, but she has faced it all with courage and grace.
Katie was diagnosed with endometrial stromal sarcoma in 2013 and underwent a hysterectomy just 1 month later, leaving her ovaries intact. She began her chemotherapy journey with Zoladex in November 2013 and continued until July 2018, enduring difficult side effects that strained her family. Despite the challenges, Katie persevered through her treatment. She would not have been able to keep fighting, through the pain and the side effects without the support of Marc and the children. They have given her the strength to keep going.
April 2019 she was told there were small deposits on her ovaries, and that had spread further too. October 2019 the disease had spread even further, so she started treatment again. April 2021 she was told the cancer had travelled again so she started a new treatment regime called Letrozole alongside Zoladex. Jan 2022 she was put onto, yet another treatment called Doxarubacin, causing her hardest side effects, losing her hair, and becoming bed bound for 6 months. she thought she was going to die.
August 2022, they told her it was not working and there was nothing else they could do. This devastated them, but shortly after in September 2022 she was told that another treatment may help. Katie endured this last chemotherapy, which worked and gave us all hope that it was working until this May. When she was given the news that it was no longer working, and no more treatments were going to be given. She was told she would not have long to live, but they would not give her an estimation of how long, just said not long.
Katie believes that life is about making memories with those she loves. Their family values experiences over possessions, and they want to cherish the time they have left with their beloved Wife and mother by creating unforgettable memories. However, the cost of these experiences can be overwhelming, especially as they face the economic crisis of bills rising and the loss of income due to caregiving.
We are seeking donations to help fund trips, adventures, and experiences that will allow Katie and her family to make the most of their remaining time together. Katie dreams of exploring new places, trying new things, and creating beautiful memories for her family to treasure and remember when she can no longer be with them. With your help, we hope to make this dream a reality.
We ask for your support, not only to make Katies family's final journey full of love and adventure but also to help them create a legacy of memories that will last a lifetime.
Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will go towards creating precious moments with her beloved Husband and children. Thank you for considering Katies cause.
