Hello Barefoot Beach Community and The Club at Barefoot Beach Members~
My name is Cheryl Ingram, condo resident on Barefoot Beach, one of our "special people" on the beach needs our help.
Katie Caucegila, better known to the Barefoot Beach community as “Katie at the Gate” could use our help.
Katie’s dad, Vic who also worked at the Barefoot Beach Gate for 8 years and always greeted us with a smile. Following a long battle with his health, Vic passed away in September 2022. In January 2023, Katie took a leave of absence to assist with caring for her very ill mother, dying of liver failure. Unfortunately, Katie’s mom passed away on May 20th…eight months to the day of her dad’s death.
To say it has been a very difficult nine months for Katie and her family would be an understatement. Unfortunately, Katie and her children moved in with her dad and mom to assist in their full-time care … and the family needs to sell the house to try and cover the cost of medical bills, the home is currently in need of several repairs post Ian. Katie is back working for TriCorp Security hoping to get a full-time position back as soon as they can find her a permanent opportunity.
She is now faced with finding a new place to live, caring for her two teenage children, mounting medical bills from her parent's illnesses, and getting back to work full-time.
Since Hurricane Ian it has been a tough period for all of us living in the Barefoot Beach Community … In addition to our emotional and financial turmoil …it is fair to say that we all miss having “Katie at the Gate,” with her quick smile and laugh, and uncanny ability to remember every face and name on the beach. It would be wonderful if we could help her get back on her feet financially.
Sincere thanks for your consideration and support.
