Katie & Alexa’s IVF Journey
Donation protected
Alexa and Katie married in January of 2020 and were challenged right out of the gate with the COVID-19 outbreak. Thinking that was the ultimate test, they pushed through and have come out so much stronger - not knowing a much harder challenge would be facing them soon. Infertility.
To make starting a family as a same-sex couple even more difficult, they have been struggling for over a year now to have a baby with IUI. Infertility has been one of their biggest heartaches & financial hardships, so, they have decided it is time to move forward with IVF.
Alexa has gone through countless tests, procedures, 11 complete IUI cycles with no success- (3 at home IUI’s & 8 with physicians), most of which were double IUIs, meaning back to back days each month at her peak ovulation… which means… double the $.
Alexa has gone through some genetic testing, a surgical procedure, 2 ultrasounds each month, countless medications, shots, and many trips to the clinic that has an hour commute each way. All of which have been financially and emotionally draining.
Unfortunately, their insurance doesn’t cover ANY infertility treatments, so they will have been paying for everything out of pocket. After discussing with their doctor & advisors, they expect the range of their treatment plan including all appointments, retrieval, transfer, donor sperm/shipping, medications, PGS testing and travel/accommodation to range from $20,000-$25,000.
Any help is truly appreciated & they personally thank you for taking the time to read their story & appreciate any/all help for them to start their family.
They cannot wait for that test to finally read positive & are asking for your positive thoughts and prayers throughout this process.
Please feel free to share their story & reach out with any questions.
All their love,
Alexa & Katie
