My name is Kate, a Hearing Instrument Dispenser working towards my Hearing Instrument Specialist certification. I am so honoured to have been selected to join the Medicos en Accion team for their mission trip to Guatemala.

Medicos en Accion is a non-profit society whose mandate is to provide medical and surgical care to people in developing countries with limited access to care.

In a typical year, surgical specialties include gynaecology, general surgery and ear, nose and throat (ENT). They also offer a Hearing Clinic at the hospital and services include hearing testing and the fitting and programming of hearing aids - this is where I will be working!

On top of volunteering our time/experience/knowledge - there is a minimum donation of the volunteers to cover expenses as well as our flights and dinners.

The donation will cover the costs of shared accommodations, airport transfers in Guatemala, breakfast/lunch at the hospital, medications, surgical supplies, post op and convalescent care as well as other direct hospital costs.

As a new grad - these expenses are far beyond what I can manage at this time so am asking for help towards these costs. Any extra funds will be donated to the organization.
