Karlee's Nail Painting For A Cause

My name is Karlee. I am 13 years old and a 7th Grader at Castle Rock Middle School. 7 years ago, while in the 1st grade, I decided that I really wanted to do something to help people who don't have warm coats, food & Christmas Presents. I came up with an idea to raise money by painting nails at my school's Christmas bazaar! In 2013, I was able to raise $1500 which allowed me to adopt 5 total families purchasing gifts for 13 kids ranging in age from 3-15, purchased single gifts for 5 other kids ranging in age from 2-16, purchased 8 coats and 9 pairs of snow pants, and purchased $200 in gift cards for families for a total of 94 gifts for some of my fellow Sandstone classmates. In 2014, I was able to raise $2195 which allowed me to adopt 4 families, 25 people total. I was able to purchase 128 presents for those 25 people along with giving each family a grocery gift card and a box of food. In 2015, I was able to raise over $4,000 adopting 7 Families, 33 total people. I blessed them with 167 presents, 6 movie gift cards, 26 movie tickets, 26 zoo passes, $250 to Wal-Mart, $100 to Albertsons, $25 Visa Gift Card, 2 dinner for 2 certificates to Texas Roadhouse, 1 night stay at Hilton Garden Inn, $25 Qdoba Gift Card, 5 Big Guy BBQ VIP meal cards, $700 in CASH given to these families. In 2016, I adopted 10 families, 51 people with the $6,428 I raised. I blessed them with 271 presents, including gift cards, movie gift cards, restaurant gift cards. I also provided 47 families with $35 gas gift cards.  in 2017, I raised $3,643 and adopted 4 families, 25 people. I blessed them with 125 presents, $500 worth of Montana Rib and Chop House gift cards, various other gift cards and a food box. I am extremely grateful for the money that I have been able to raise and help those in need. I want to keep doing the same thing every year and help even more families have a brighter Christmas. The last 5 years, all the families I adopted were through a partnership with The Big J Show's Santa Claus for a Cause that helps local kids/families have a better Christmas.
