Raising awareness for Rare, Rapid, and Under-Researched Gallbladder Cancer
Our beautiful mum, Karen, was diagnosed with rare gallbladder cancer just four weeks before she left this earth. She was a walking ray of sunshine. Her passing has left a deep ache in the hearts of her husband Rob and her four children, Lauren, Elly, John, and Greta.
Gallbladder cancer is rare but deadly. Often diagnosed too late, it affects around 2 in every 100,000 people and carries a high fatality rate due to its silent, aggressive progression. In Australia, 74% of those diagnosed are women, and awareness, research, and support are still alarmingly limited. 85% of people diagnosed with gallbladder cancer have gallstones.
We don’t yet know exactly how we’ll use the funds raised but we promise that Karen Made will be used to create awareness, share vital education, and honour those like Karen who receive a diagnosis too late, with too few answers.
We want to do everything we can to help ensure that fewer families have to experience this same kind of heartbreak.
We will ensure every step is taken with love, purpose, and transparency.
Karen made a difference in every life she touched and now, together, so will you.
