I’m raising funds for Karen Giraldo, a mom on my son’s soccer team, after a horrific act of violence changed life for Karen and her son, Ian. On August 23, 2026, during a youth soccer game at the Little Haiti soccer fields, Karen was randomly attacked by a man armed with a 15-inch kitchen knife while she was there simply to support her son.

Karen suffered stabbing injuries and needed emergency medical care. At the same time, Ian witnessed this terrifying violence against his mother. This happened about a month after Ian’s father left the family, making an already painful season even harder for them both. Karen is a newly single mom who was already working hard to make ends meet, and now she and Ian are also facing the physical and emotional trauma of this attack.

• Firefighter transport
• Hospital fees
• Ongoing care for Karen
• Psychological care for Karen and Ian
• Daily living expenses during recovery
