Karela Sherwood Blinco

Hi, my name is Stephanie Overton, and I am setting up a GoFundMe for my dear friend Karela Blinco. We have been friends and colleagues for over 25 years. Karela was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma in April of 2023. The tumor was removed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the doctors there crafted a treatment plan of radiation, chemo, and an optune helmet.

Although all of her scans were clear up through December of 2023, her most recent scan in February 2024 showed regrowth of the original tumor and a new spot.

In light of the news, Karela will be traveling to Pittsburgh every three weeks to receive treatment. The stays will likely be several days at a time. It is worth noting that as a small business owner, Karela has paid out of pocket for health insurance and continues to do that to this day.

The funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards covering travel, accomodations, and uncovered medical costs, ensuring that Karela can focus on her health without worrying about the financial burden.
