This is probably the hardest thing I've had to write in my life. Please understand that while the words may not be the most eloquent, the emotion and message is real.
On December 23rd, 2021 Kara Sarvis gained her angel wings and went to be with her dad and grandparents. Anyone that knew Kara knew her as one of the sweetest, kindest, most caring people. She always wore an infectious smile and always cared so selflessly. In my dad's words, Kara could also be a bit of a klutz but that played into her sweet innocence and why she was so lovable. She brought 2 amazing kids into this world, Olivia and Bryce, that are just as caring and wonderful as Kara was.
Part of why this is so hard to write, and words don't properly articulate the challenge here, is that deep down Kara had challenges with depression and subsequently, addiction that pulled her into a dark place over the last few years. For those that don't have this burden, it's impossible to understand (myself included). Depression changes how you think, who you are, logic is so twisted it's unrecognizable. I've spoken to several people in the days since Kara's passing that have helped me get to a point of realization that I won't and can't understand "why". It's a disease that overcomes who you are. It's just not possible to understand why, so I'm choosing to focus on who Kara was in my life, like a sister, and a great person. One that left us MUCH too soon as the world needed more of her smile and kindness.
This fundraiser is to help with a variety of things surrounding the immediate family of Tony, Olivia and Bryce. There are financial challenges and I think we all want the best for Olivia and Bryce. They have a hard road ahead of them and while money isn't a fix, it can be a mechanism to show how much we all cared for Kara and help relieve stress that is already so overwhelming.
Lastly, hug those you love and never ignore signals that someone may need help, even if they aren't asking for it.
