The Kao Canada United Way Committee is excited to be facilitating our participation in the Knight’s Table Adopt-A-Family Holiday Program this year. The program supports families in need with one month of groceries, as there is no access to the foodbank after the holidays until mid-January, and gifts from their holiday wish list.

This year we are proud to be supporting Jessica and her 4 children aging between 1-12. Please the read following, directly from Jessica, in regards to her current situation:

Hello, my name is Jessica. I'm 30 years old and a mother of four children whom I cherish deeply. I'm currently reliant on OW (Ontario Works) and facing significant challenges in securing employment. The escalating rent and soaring food prices have made it increasingly difficult for me to make ends meet. The biggest hurdle in finding stable work is managing two kids under five while grappling with the high costs of daycare.

The financial strain I'm facing is immense, and the support I receive from OW has become essential. Despite my eagerness to work, the current circumstances, especially the burden of childcare expenses, are hindering my ability to find a job that would provide stability for my family. With little money for food and necessities after rent, I turned to Knights Table for help to feed myself and children.

Below is the holiday wish list for Jessica and her family in which we are raising funds to purchase in addition to one month worth of groceries:
