Kalyn's Juneteenth Ride from Incheon to Busan, Korea!
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Kalyn and over the Juneteenth holiday this year I will embark on a 633km or in freedom units 420 mile cycling adventure from Incheon to Busan, South Korea. A wonderful friend of mine mentioned that she wanted to do this trip and I thought well I'm young, in fairly good shape, I like working out on my spin bike, and I'm not old so what the heck let’s do it. Little did I know the journey that I would be starting. I also started to think what we can do for our community. Since we will be riding over the Juneteenth holiday this Go Fund Me is for the local chapter of the African American Heritage Council. If you haven't researched what this holiday is, it is a chance to celebrate African American history and heritage. A great start to better understanding and an awesome resource is the 1619 Project. I urge you to seek out more African American authors, historians, and poets to gain a better understanding of history and culture within the African American community. A few great reads from some phenomenal African American authors are Four Hundred Souls & The Warmth of Other Suns, incredible renditions of the complexity of the United States history and likely stories you were never taught in your history lessons. Please consider donating to the local chapter of the African American Heritage Council, funds will provide the group more assets for outreach and activities within the organization. Thank you for time and I'll be updating the journey when it begins, June 19th!
