Kalorama Playground Sandbox Refill
Donation protected
Hello! I'm Matt Schwartz, a parent in the neighborhood raising money to buy 6 tons of high-quality washed play sand to refill the two sandboxes at the Kalorama Park playground. The sand level has (obviously) gotten very low, to the point where the bottoms of the sandboxes have patches of concrete and tarps.
A group of parents met with the District's parks department, who informed us that they are not responsible for filling the sand. An estimate for sand costs is below.
I'm excited to see what the sandboxes will look like with this much-needed refresh, and I know that our kids will be grateful as well! Thank you for considering, and please feel free to write me with any questions.
Note: In the event that we get more than $1,540 in donations, the money will either given to the Fund for Kalorama for use on future sand refills, spent on mulch/sawdust (which is also an acute need) or returned to donors. Photos of the results as well as receipts will be posted here promptly.
