Mother's Day Makeover, Skid Row LA, 2022

LA Men's Circle dignifies mothers living on Skid Row with a hot lunch and flowers for Mother's Day.

 

As of January 2020, there were more than 66,400 homeless people in Los Angeles County, with 41,000 within LA city limits. Needless to say, 1 person living on the street with no visible means of support is 1 too many. Often, these residents have fallen on hard times, and rarely are they treated with human dignity. How would you feel if these women were your mother?

 

Our partner organization, Redeye.org, has been doing this event for the last 16 years and

the Kaizen Men's Circle has been by their side since 2017. This year we will join together again to give the moms of Skid Row the opportunity for some dignity-enhancing experiences.

 

On Mother's Day, Redeye will selflessly pamper the mothers of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles with facials, manicures, haircuts and hairstyling, make-up, and wardrobe makeovers, just to name a few of the benefits we'll bestow on the moms on this special day.  Also, Redeye volunteers will offer to wash the feet and provide dry socks for the participants.

As men, we love all women. As such we men of the Kaizen Men's Circle will take on doing for the women what they often do for their men -- Cooking. For several years, Kaizen men have prepared a special Mother's Day meal for the participants. This year, our kitchen team will prepare a sumptuous lunch for our guests, the centerpiece of which will be irresistible banana pancakes.

 

Your generous donation will help the Kaizen kitchen team cook, plate, and serve the food to the residents of Skid Row. Every 4-dollar donation ensures that one extra mother gets to feel good about herself thanks to the masculine care we bring to the event.
