Remembering David McDonald

The McDonald family coming together to remember David McDonald in aid of Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust and would really appreciate your support.

David was the only son of 4 kids to Peter and Elsie McDonald, Derrydavy, Mountmellick, Co Laois. David lived a full and plentiful life in his 37 years. He is remembered by many as a bubbling pile of joy and excitement. From his echoing belly laugh and his big bear hugs, fun and excitement was never far behind David. David passed away on 10th January 2024 in Auckland, New Zealand, leaving behind his loving partner Flavio Villani, parents, sisters, nieces and nephews, family and many friends and was brought home by Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

For anyone that didn't know him, David loved a drink, a dance and a great night out! If you can join us, we want to bring as many people as possible to Moloney's Bar on Saturday 10th May from 6pm to celebrate Dave and all the joy and love he brought to the world!

About Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust - The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families repatriating the body (bodies) of loved one(s) who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances back to Ireland.

KBRT was founded out of a family tragedy when, in June 2013, Kevin Bell died suddenly in New York. Following an outpouring of support from Kevin’s friends, family and colleagues, a significant amount of funds were raised to repatriate his remains back to Ireland. As a permanent legacy to Kevin, the Bell family decided to use the funds to establish a charity to help other families who find themselves in a similar situation. Help comes in the form of financial support as well as advice and guidance on getting the remains of loved ones home as soon as possible.

In Laois, 19 loved ones have been brought back home since 2013 with the help of the trust. David was one of those loved one. In 2024, David was just one of 296 people who were brought home with the help of the trust.

KBRT is a volunteer organisation, led by Colin Bell and a team of volunteer Trustees. KBRT is regulated by the Charity Commission in Northern Ireland (NIC100314) and Irish Charity Regulator (20102937).
