On 3rd May, we’ll be hosting the Legacy League, a charity football event bringing together 100 local players from across the community to raise money for Newbury Cancer Care.
Sadly, cancer touches almost everyone at some point in their lives. Many of us have seen friends, family members, or loved ones face the fight, and charities like Newbury Cancer Care provide vital support to people when they need it most. This event is our way of giving something back.
The Legacy League will see 100 local lads, most with an average age somewhere around 40, dusting off their boots and attempting to relive their footballing glory days. For many, it’s been years since they last stepped onto a pitch, so the chances of cramp, pulled muscles, and questionable fitness levels are extremely high!
Will there be pain? After last years debut event, there certainly will be!
Will there be moaning and groaning for the days afterwards? Absolutely, but doesn't that happen in a way?
But jokes aside, everyone involved is taking part for a serious reason. Every player is committed to raising money to support people in our community who are affected by cancer.
It will be a full day of football, laughs, and community spirit, all for an incredibly important community cause.
If you’re able to support us with a donation, no matter how big or small, it would mean a huge amount to everyone involved and to the people supported by the incredible staff and volunteers at Newbury Cancer Care.
Thank you, it's your generosity that will make a difference.
