Baby Daniel

A week ago my husband and I were very blessed to be able to bring both of our handsome twin boys into this world which was such a magical and special moment for us. Unfortunately it didn't get to last long because only a few hours after having our sweet baby boy (Daniel) he started to decline and was taken to the NICU at oak hill hospital where he was suspected of having Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) which is a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart. They did an echocardiogram and found that it was much worse and he is missing almost half of the right side of his heart and there was no flow of blood between his heart and lungs. He began to struggle to breath and his life became at risk. The same night we had our baby boys they had to be separated while Daniel was taken by helicopter to NEMOURS CHILDREN HOSPITAL for emergency heart surgery that same night to be able to save his life. For the first week of our poor baby's life he has been hooked up to multiple different iv pumps, monitors and many other support systems just to continue to breath and fight. Tomorrow the doctors will decide when we can begin the first step of their 3 part heart surgery on our little boy to save his life and hopefully bring him home in the next two months on to the road to recovery before the next surgery has began. It has been a challenge in its own way with not having both our babies at home and the fear of never having them back together at home. Along with that has been the stress of paying for gas back and forth from the hospital 2 hours each way from our house to hospital and back or having to afford a room up in Orlando by the hospital so we can see our baby as much as possible. We know times are tight for everyone out there and sometimes a helping hand is hard to find but any amount for a donation would go a long way to help us just be closer to our boy as much as we can.
