Hi my name is Nelli and I am sharing a story of my dear childhood friend in Estonia to save their family home and help them to build a safe future for their 5 kids.

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

My name is Karine, and I’m reaching out from Estonia with a heartfelt plea for help. My husband and I have been working tirelessly to build a safe and stable home for our five children—a safe haven where they can grow, thrive, and feel secure. I’ve always believed in the strength of community and the kindness of people. But now, we’re facing a critical challenge, and we need your support.

Our Story

My husband, a construction worker for many years, has dedicated his life to building homes for others. Tragically, his hard work has taken a toll on his health. He now suffers from severe lower back pain, likely caused by disc degeneration due to heavy lifting, which makes it nearly impossible for him to work consistently and maintain a steady job. The overloaded healthcare system means he’s stuck in a frustrating cycle of temporary relief with no long-term solutions.

While my husband battles his health issues, I’ve taken on multiple jobs—teaching yoga, English, and working as a masseuse—to provide for our family. Despite all our efforts, we cannot make enough to finish our home, which the bank requires to be completed. Without this, we face the terrifying prospect of losing our house.

Currently, our home is unfinished. Essential work like electrical work, wiring, heating systems, and key structural elements remains incomplete. Half of the house is unheated, and the stress of living in this situation is overwhelming. The most pressing issue is that the bank requires the house to be completed to avoid foreclosure. If we cannot meet this requirement, we risk losing our home. This is a terrifying prospect for us as parents, knowing our children may lose the stability and safety they need.

One of our children has ADHD and Asperger’s syndrome, which requires regular therapy three times a week. Balancing caregiving, work, managing construction, and the constant worry about our home is overwhelming. I fear the impact this stress is having on our family’s mental health and well-being. Finishing our home would not only ensure we meet the bank’s requirements but also provide the stability and security our children desperately need.
