Maria Broom, known to the Baltimore School for the Arts community as Mama Maria, has been a member of the BSA community for more than 30 years, dedicating her talents as a dancer, storyteller, and actress to the arts and youth empowerment.

Mama Maria has been in the hospital with a lung infection and as it was time to head home learned that her home had been severely infested with mold and declared inhabitable. She has now been forced to evacuate her residence and find a new home.
