Freddie's Fight

Donation protected
Anyone who has met or knows Fred will know what a great young man he is, who has a kind heart and an awesome sense of humour. He is arguably one of the most laid-back teenagers you could meet. He always greets you with one of those infectious smiles and there is rarely a time when he won’t be cracking a joke. Fred is the younger brother of Casie and Charlie and is the youngest son to Kay and Craig.

Fred is an avid football fan, just like his family. He plays for Brislington Juniors Under 15s football team. This club has a special place in Freddie and his family's life - his granddad is the founder and club president, and his dad is the current vice chairman. I can safely say BJFC is a huge part of the Dixon's life.

Freddie is a season ticket holder for Bristol City and continues to be a huge supporter, spending most weekends of his childhood at Ashton Gate supporting the team.

Unfortunately, Freddie became unwell in January, he was admitted to Bristol Children’s Hospital in February and has been staying there ever since. Two weeks ago, Freddie and his family were given the news that every family dreads hearing. Freddie was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of cancer that requires a minimum of six months of chemotherapy.

We can only imagine the tough journey that lies ahead for Fred and his family at such a crucial time in Fred’s life, being 15 years of age.

To show Freddie and his family how much they mean to us, we would like to raise some money to support the family through this process, as well as raising money for a charity that will provide support to other children and families having to go through the same journey.

Therefore, any money raised will be divided between the Teenage Cancer Trust charity and supporting Freddie and his family, allowing them to organize something for Freddie to look forward to during and at the end of his treatment plan. The Teenage Cancer Trust work within Apollo Ward at Bristol Children’s Hospital, where Fred will be spending the majority of his time throughout the course of his treatment.

Fred, you have been extremely brave and continue to be an inspiration to us all. Your strength and courage is heroic and we’re all right beside you.
