Pam needs our help! As many of you know, her father has been in hospice care in a hospital in Florida for a couple of weeks and his health seems to be declining rapidly.
While it is difficult enough to face losing a parent, she is struggling financially to make the trip happen. As most of us in the film industry know, 2014 was a very slow year for commercials and one of my worst years since I started in the film business in 1998. As freelancers, we can never predict when this will happen so it's very hard to truly be prepared for it. Now comes the busiest two months of the year and she needs to be with her father in his last days and take care of his finances, memorial services, etc. after he passes. She is struggling to find the perfect time to go so that she can take care of all of these needs in one trip. I would give anything if this could be the least of her worries and so maybe it can with your help. Besides missing work this month, the travel expenses will be costly: travel getting there, hotel room for every night (no family there to stay with), fuel, etc.
All of you who know Pam know that she is a giving, special soul. She is one of the first to step forward to help anyone in need and would literally give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. I feel blessed that I can call her my friend.
If you are interested in giving, please do it as soon as you can. When she decides to leave will likely depend on this money and we don't want want her to miss out on precious time that could be spent with her dad. My plan was to keep this a secret from her, however, I can reach more people on FB and get donations much quicker than sitting here typing in hundreds of email addresses tonight!
