StrokeSMaRT Rehabilitation Kits

Donation protected
The StrokeSMaRT (Stroke Self-Management and Rehabilitation Tools) initiative was started by students at Western University who are passionate about healthcare issues. Our mission is to bridge the gap between stroke survivors and primary care teams created by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as eliminate barriers to effective care.

We worked with the community stroke rehabilitation team at St. Joseph's Hospital (London, Ontario) to develop and deliver rehabilitation kits (pictured below) to stroke survivors with the goals of promoting independence while assisting patients in their rehabilitation journey. Each kit contains a variety of simple, everyday items that can be used in exercises to build strength and fine motor control (e.g. beads and string, practice buttons, zippers, building blocks, tennis balls, playing cards, etc.). The kits also come with puzzle books and pamphlets providing information about resources for survivors (which are vital during this period of social isolation). Each kit costs $15, but they will be given to survivors for free.

We would appreciate any support you can offer; all donations will go towards making kits for the stroke program at St. Joseph's Hospital (as well as for other hospitals in London and other cities in the near future). Thank you for helping us support stroke survivors in their rehabilitation journeys.
