As many of you know, I moved to Galveston, TX, last year to continue my pursuit of attending medical school. Before applying to school, I chose to gain more experience in the medical field, and began working as a scribe at the University of Texas Medical Branch Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Department. In doing so, I have met countless incredible physicians and have build many great friendships.
Two of the physicians I work along side have been leading an annual medical mission trip to Vietnam with Resource Exchange International (REI-Vietnam), which is an international not-for-profit educational organization that has been working in Vietnam since 1992 "to build people to build a nation." Their mission is to encourage, equip, and empower the Vietnamese people in order to strengthen strategic sectors of Vietnam, such as healthcare. Click here for more information on REI-Vietnam!
Each February, they embark on a trip with faculty, resident physicians, and students of several universities across the country to provide care for patients and to educate Vietnamese medical providers in order to improve the country's quality of medical care. In doing so, they provide updated medical/surgical supplies, see patients in the clinics and hospitals, perform procedures in the operating room, and teach Vietnamese doctors and students cutting-edge surgical techniques and innovative ways to manage various ear, nose, and throat disease processes. This year, they have invited me to join them on their special journey.
In order to pariticpate in this exciting trip, I need your help! The cost of the trip is typically around $4,000, which is paid to REI who handles planning and coordinating the entire trip. Things included in the cost of the trip are the flight to Vietnam, lodging, meals, and transportation while in Vietnam, Visa fees, and all other neccessary accomodations made by REI.
I am grateful for any donation that you can provide to aid in making this once in a lifetime trip a reality for me! Thank you very much for your time!
Cheers,
Justin
