“Nicolle and Logan need their dad”
Our family has been torn apart unexpectedly, and our children are suffering without their father. My partner was unjustly detained by ICE during a routine appointment in December, and since then, our lives have completely changed. He has a 5-year work permit, has always followed the laws of this country, and also has a pending asylum case. Our children, Logan and Nicolle, were born here in the United States, and all of this has been completely unfair.
I am from Venezuela and I have no other family here—he is my only family. Recently, we also lost our car in an accident that was declared a total loss. That car was our only way to work and earn income, and without it, it has been almost impossible to cover basic expenses for our children and our family. I had some savings after the accident, but they have already been exhausted.
Our children, Logan, 8 months old, and Nicolle, 2 years old, have been deeply affected. Nicolle cries constantly and is scared; at her young age, she does not understand why her dad is not with her. Logan also feels the absence of his dad, and each day it becomes more difficult to care for our little ones without him.
How we are taking action and how you can help:
Our lawyer, highly recommended and experienced, will file a habeas corpus, a legal request that asks a judge to review whether a person’s detention is lawful. This lawyer has helped release friends my partner met in the detention center and has a proven track record of success.
With this method, my partner has a strong chance of being released and will also request a bail, which is completely separate from the lawyer’s fees. It is very important to have financial support to cover the bail, because friends of my partner who have been released before sometimes faced very high and unexpected bail amounts. We want to be fully prepared so we can bring him home as quickly as possible.
You can help us in the following ways:
Donating to help cover legal fees and bail preparation.
Providing food, diapers, or supplies for our children.
Sharing our story with friends and family to reach more people.
Every small contribution brings us closer to reuniting our family and restoring happiness to Logan and Nicolle. Please help us bring my partner home and give our children the father they deserve. God bless you.
