Justice for Sharita T. Patterson: Legal Defense Fund

Sharita T. Patterson, a dedicated Special Patrolman serving under the NYPD and former ACS Police Officer in the State of New York who found herself in a harrowing situation that turned her life upside down. On the fateful day of July 25th, 2023 around 11:00 am, Patterson, fully clad in her uniform, was on my way to work when she was unexpectedly pulled over by Officer Joshua Oliveri of the Port Authority PD.

To her shock, Officer Oliveri refused to lend an ear to Patterson's explanations and hastily concluded that all her paperwork was falsified, including her firearm registration. In an instant, her world crumbled, as she was wrongfully accused of unlawful possession of a firearm, impersonating a probation officer, possession of fraudulent government documents, obstruction, theft of services, and disorderly conduct.

Despite the fact that Patterson's weapon was lawfully registered with the NYPD license division, she was unjustly charged and subsequently incarcerated in the Hudson County Correctional Facility. For nine agonizing days, 2 months after earning a degree in Criminal Justice she was deprived of her basic rights – no phone calls, no access to food, and a complete absence of justice.
