Justice for Ms. Vivian Bey

Post Gazette Article
82-year old Ms. Vivian Bey was awoken in the middle of the night in February 2019 to what she thought was a car crashing into her house in Homewood. The noise was not a crash, but a crew of SWAT officers with guns pointed at her that had kicked down her front door. The police had mistaken Ms. Bey's house for another home and came in searching for a kidnapping victim that was not there.
Over a year later, Ms. Bey is rightfully traumatized by the incident and the the City of Pittsburgh has still yet to refund her for the damages. Ms. Bey was left with no front door in the middle of the winter in 33 degree weather. She was forced to charge the door on a Home Depot credit which has now accrued over $3,000 on installations, replacements for the front and security doors, and repairs to the frame. Ms. Bey's Home Depot credit has accrued interest adding to the amounting cost and is affecting her finances significantly, especially since she was laid off from her job at the Community College of Allegheny County due to COVID-19.
Please consider making a donation to offset the cost of these damages and show Ms. Bey that we see and care for her and the rest of the seniors in our community.
