We are now facing new and ongoing costs as we push for the case to be reopened and reclassified from suicide to the reality that evidence suggests.

These next steps include:

Attorney Fees: Legal representation continues to be our largest cost, averaging $300–$500 per hour, depending on case work.

Private Investigator: Ongoing investigative work, interviews, and evidence review typically cost $100–$200 per hour.

Forensic Testing: Additional lab work and DNA/toxicology tests can cost $2,000–$5,000 per test, depending on what needs to be reanalyzed.

Forensic Pathologist: An independent pathologist’s review and expert report can range from $3,000–$7,000.

Forensic Anthropologist (Injury Pattern Analysis): Typically $2,500–$6,000, depending on the scope of analysis.

These are all critical experts needed to uncover the truth that was overlooked in the initial investigation. This is something no family should have to do alone, but because the original investigation was mishandled, we now rely on the generosity of friends, family, and the supportive community that has rallied behind Megan.
