Mckenzie's Awareness For Familial HLH
Dear Friends, Family & Strangers On July 22nd Mckenzie went into the emergency room never knowing that would being the last time I would hear her cries. Mckenzie was in the hospital for 28 days throughout those 28 days we discovered that our baby had a rare disease called HLH never knowing what would be the end result.
HLH is a
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is
an inherited disease of the immune system
. It's known as a "primary immunodeficiency." The body's immune system fights off infections and anything else it sees as foreign invaders to the body. In HLH, the body makes too many immune cells.
Our baby girl went from smiling to being on a vent to having Liver & Kidney failure to later on developing gangrene in her arm to the final thing which was the blood clots that went to her brain and caused a stroke. You may ask Justice why? Well at about 3 weeks my baby was screaming for 5 hours of which I took her to the ER I was told my baby was colic, 2 weeks later I took her to the doctors again because she wasn't feeling well only to see that my baby had a fever of 101.9 in the middle of covid which was dismissed. Once again was told that my baby was colic, The following day my mom took my baby to the hospital because my husband and were working only for 24 hours later for the doctors to tell me that my baby was in liver failure. Due to them not running the correct labs to see that something was wrong with my baby. By the time my baby was transfered she was in liver & kidney failure and we had run out of time. While we spent all these days fighting for our daughter and telling doctors to act and save our baby we were told to sit and wait, wait for our baby girl to die. For these reasons and many more my husband and I feel that we were just to sit and watch as our 2 month old baby died. We are asking for you all to help us bring awareness to NYC about this horrible disease that if it isn't caught in time and doctors don't care your baby will die. We are asking to help us raise this money to create The Justice For Mckenzie Foundation and Funeral Expenses as we wasn't expecting to have to plan a funeral when we were suppose to be enjoying our baby girl and watch her grow. Thank you for taking the time and helping us advocate for Mckenzie, if you are unable to donate its okay please share as this has to stop we shouldn't be over looked because of the color of our skin.
