I’m fundraising on behalf of my dear friend Mason, who is facing a devastating legal battle and mounting financial challenges due to a deeply unjust situation. Mason, one of the kindest, strongest people I know had his life turned upside down after an accident that led to his leave from Arizona State University and a legal charge estimated at $18,000 in damages—despite the actual damages being quoted at less than $600. This situation is a glaring example of a system that has failed him repeatedly, from improper booking and lack of information to failing to notify him of court dates and continuing to pursue him despite clear evidence and support of his good character.

Adam Hughes, a Senior Case Investigator at ASU in the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities wrote a personal letter of recommendation following this incident, describing him as someone who “possesses an inordinate passion for helping others and carries a selfless desire for other people.” Through this personal letter of support from a senior case investigator, even the university has made it clear they do not believe Mason should face these charges, further showing the unjust nature of this situation.

Mason lights up every room, inspires everyone he meets, and has consistently worked hard to pursue his dreams while supporting himself through many different roles.
