On August 10th, 2024, Michelle’s world shattered.

Her son, Marcos, was riding home from work on his motorcycle when he was hit and killed by a 20-year-old driving a BMW at 129 miles per hour, with a blood alcohol level of 0.17%. Nearly a year later, that man has finally been arrested and charged. Michelle is now facing the long & painful process of showing up to court, reliving the trauma, and waiting for justice to be served.

Marcos was her heart. And while grief like this is impossible to put into words, anyone who knows Michelle knows the depth of her pain — and the depth of her love.

Despite being broken, Michelle continues to show up for the people in her life: her family, her recovery community, her sponsees, her grandchildren, and her extra sons & daughters & many more. She’s the kind of woman who gives everything, even when she has nothing left.

Since losing Marcos, Michelle has been out of work and struggling while waiting for disability to come through. She’s been surviving on love, faith, and the strength of her people — but now, it's time for us to show up for her.
