My name is Barbara, Hailey was my daughter and Stella’s sister.
Hailey was loving, happy, nurturing, and deeply committed to the people she cared about. She had a way of making friends feel like family and family feel like gold. She carried her relationships into every part of her life. She had plans, she wanted to have children, she had a business she was building and she was looking forward to her future—until her life ended on December 26, 2022, inside the apartment she loved, where she should have been safest.
Since that day, our lives have been turned upside down.
Hailey’s death was investigated by the Marietta Police Department, but they mishandled the investigation. The Cobb County District Attorney’s Office has declined to pursue a murder indictment without additional evidence. Despite my repeated pleas, no further investigation has been or will be done. As a mother, living with unanswered questions about how your child died is a pain that never stops. I may never know exactly how but I do know who.
Everyone loved Hailey. Her friends have stood by her through every court appearance and continue to carry her memory with them in their daily lives and special moments. They are grieving too. Our entire family is.
Through this process, we found Woody Overton and the Real Life Real Crime podcast, along with its listeners, known as the Lifers. Woody dedicated an entire series—Justice for Hailey—to laying out the facts of Hailey’s case. Despite providing everything uncovered during that investigation, the District Attorney still has refused to move forward.
What we are asking for now is not speculation—it is science.
I am raising funds to hire an independent forensic specialist, Scott Roder of Evidence Room, who has extensive experience in crime scene reconstruction, forensic analysis, and courtroom-reviewed investigative work. This specialist will reconstruct the apartment and analyze the physical evidence using established forensic science methods to determine whether Hailey could have taken her own life or whether the evidence shows she was murdered.
The estimated cost for this forensic reconstruction and expert analysis is $10,000, and it will not be less than that amount. This funding will cover the independent specialist’s review, scene reconstruction, evidence analysis, and formal reporting. While additional costs are not expected, any changes or necessary increases will be communicated transparently as the process moves forward. The initial $10,000 is essential to begin this work.
Any findings from this expert analysis will be formally submitted to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office for review.
This type of forensic work must be done while evidence, records, and scene details are still available. If we do not act now, this opportunity may be lost forever.
I promised Hailey I would get justice for her. I cannot rest, and I cannot begin to grieve, until the truth comes out and her memory is honored properly. I am asking for help from anyone who can support us in taking this final step. Your contribution will directly fund the forensic work needed to bring a murder indictment and give our family a chance at peace.
Thank you for standing with us and for helping keep Hailey’s memory alive.
