Funeral expenses for Eduardo Lopez

UPDATE: We are so devastated to say Eduardo Lopez has passed away 04/25/2024. Please help us give him the funeral he deserves.

This is his story:

Hi, my name is Ashley. Me and my family are trying to raise funds for my cousin Eduardo Lopez that we suspect was brutally assaulted in West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. On April 1st 2024, he was experiencing an acute schizophrenic episode that led to his caregivers (parents) call 911 for assistance. He was placed in a jail (West Valley Detention center) instead of a mental health hospital even after the mother had informed the officer that they were calling to request mental health assistance for him. While in jail parents were being told Eduardo did not want any visitations which was odd to them because it’s not very like him, he loves his parents very much, as he’s lived with them all his life. On his court date he was not present because parent were informed that “he refused” which again was very odd and unlikely of him. Couple days later My aunt (the mother) receives a phone call from a doctor at Pomona Valley hospital medical center stating Eduardo is in a coma after experiencing two heart attacks. We feel something isn’t right we have so many questions with no answers! The jail has been refusing to give us details and answers on the incident that lead Eduardo into a coma. The doctors stated he had 20% life expectancy but we have faith in God that he will come out of this. Visits have been very limited and sometimes the parents can’t even visit because the nurses state the officer in his room is not allowing it because he’s still in custody. Which breaks our hearts even more because it’s already a very tough time dealing with this situation. Parents are devastated and are struggling to get information due to him being an adult. We want to know what caused the two heart attacks, we want to know why he has bruises all over his body, we want to know why it appears that he has a broken leg, and why there’s blood inside his eyes. We want to know the real reason of what happened to his jail visitations. His absences in the court hearing while in custody, why they’re was no jail calls. We want to know why he didn’t receive the proper care during his mental crisis. A lawyer is needed for justice for answer’s and for the parents to gain access to medical decisions. The family is currently experiencing financial hardship, these funds will be used for emergencies during this time. We understand that times are very hard at the moment for everybody, but even a share would be very much appreciated so that people can see how the system is so unfair to those with mental health. Help us do what is right for him as he does not have a voice. We need justice.
