Justice for Azelle Rodneys Daughter Giselle

Donation protected

Azelle Rodney’s life was taken by an armed
metropolitan police officer, whilst sitting in
the back seat of a vehicle on 30th April 2005. His daughter Giselle was born a little over a
month later on 2nd June 2005.

A brief outline of the case;

The IPCC initially investigated the shooting,
then in 2006 the CPS concluded there was not enough evidence to convict the officer involved with his death. The IPCC also confirmed
Azelle Rodney was not seen holding a firearm when he was shot, even though the officer in
question stated “Everything about his actions
led me to believe that he was fully ready to fire with a fully automatic weapon."

After a lengthy legal battle, 8 years later, in July 2013, a public inquiry into the death of Azelle Rodney chaired by a former high court judge, Sir Christopher Holland, concluded the armed officer who fired the fatal shots had “no lawful justification” for killing him.
The officer in question then applied to the High Court for a judicial review of the public inquiry, claiming the Chair's conclusions were "
irrational". However this application was
refused,
Sir Wyn Williams stated he had “no doubt”
there was “ample evidence to justify the
finding"
that the officer did not have an honest belief
that Mr Rodney had picked up a gun.

In July 2014, the Crown Prosecution Service
charged the former police officer, with the
murder of Azelle Rodney.

10 years after Azelle Rodney’s death, the trial commenced on 8th June 2015 at the Old
Bailey. On 3rd July 2015, the Jury found the
officer not guilty of murder.

Through no fault of her own, Giselle now a
teenager, is having to try to understand and
navigate her way through life without her
farther due to these unfortunate
circumstances.

Giselle has blossomed into a smart, creative
young woman with plans to start her own
business and attend university when she
finishes school.

The purpose of this campaign is to offer some financial support for Giselle; educational fees & future endeavours, to keep her on the right path regardless of the cards she has dealt within life.

Monique who is Giselle’s mum, should be very proud for raising Giselle into the beautiful, smart, young women she has become x
