Justice for Alex and Jessie

During a lay over in North Carolina, two local Miami artists, Alex Reyes and Jessie Robideaux, and North Carolina resident/best friend Alexis Goodman were rear ended by a reckless non-insured driver , while at a complete stop in a construction zone on I-85 North. The Silverado truck was speeding at 70 mph when it collided with the car driven by Alexis. With the help of his girlfriend , the driver of the Silverado was able to flee the scene and later falsely report the truck stolen.

In this tragic accident, Alexis suffered from a broken arm and nine broken ribs, Jessie severely injured her back and Alex was devastatingly taken from this realm at the age of 33.

There are no words deep enough to describe the effect this loss has had on his companion, his family, his friends and the community that he was celebrated in. Alex made every person he met feel important, loved and encouraged them to create art and support one another. He lives on through not only his art, but the mark he left on every person who was lucky enough to meet him.

Due to lack of insurance coverage on both vehicles, those who Alex left behind are left to incur the financial responsibility of medical treatment. Because this took place in North Carolina and does not have insurance to claim, Jessie and His family are forced to pursue legal representation out of state at upfront costs.

The traumatic loss of her partner, coupled with her severe back pain from the accident, has made day-to-day life a struggle for Jessie. She has been limited to 25 hours per week of light duty at work which has greatly reduced her income. After 90 days and during recovery from surgery , she will be forced to take an unpaid leave.

The funds from this will go towards her continued treatment as well as the costs of attorney fees to deal with the ongoing case. Also to supplement the loss of income at work.

This has been a traumatic and life-shattering experience for so many close to Alex. Anything is appreciated to help lift some of the burden off Jessie and his family as they heal from this senseless tragedy and we are so grateful for any and all help. Thank you.
