If you know me at all, you know I am Black Lives Matter through and through. I have lost sleep and fought hard to bring justice and a voice to people I have never met. Now, I am fighting the same fight for my fiancé.

Saturday evening my fiancé, Malik, was set up and viscously lynched by three white males, all of which are members of my “family” in what was undoubtedly a hate crime. He was transported by ambulance to Oconee and then quickly taken by ambulance to Greenville. He has suffered from severe facial fractures, memory loss, current loss of vision in his right eye, and seizure like behavior. We have to meet with ophthalmology and plastic surgeons this week to decide what comes next.

It is two weeks before Christmas, he has been put of work until further notice. I am winging it with my work schedule at the moment and doing what I can to still provide, be here to take care of him, get him to appointments as well as being here to get my kids to and from their school and sports. We are also looking at obtaining legal counsel to fight for justice. Financially we are doing what we can to stay afloat while we handle all of this the best way we can. I am currently just trying to cover the cost of him and myself missing any amount of work and paying for medical expenses that are not covered by his insurance.

UPDATE: Plastic surgery is 100% required. The right side of his face is completely shattered. We have to see ophthalmology Friday to determine the damage to his actual eyes and if we can move forward with surgery or if we need to wait. He is out of work until at least a month after surgery.
